Abstract:
The Joy Luck Club is Chinese American writer Amy Tan’s masterpiece. It tells stories about the conflicts of Chinese born mothers and American born daughters, which reflects conflicts between Chinese traditional Confucian culture and American culture. Through her work, Tan criticizes the old moral codes in Chinese culture, and she also shows her identification and praise of filial piety in Confucian culture. She does not absolutely identify or criticize Chinese culture, which shows her progress in inheriting Chinese traditional culture
