Changes of China Reports in the Major Western Media in the Early 21ST Century: A Critical Study

摘要: 西方媒体对中国的关注越来越多，其对华报道开始发生微妙的变化。通过EBSCO数据库，用批评性话语分析法对新世纪初西方主流媒体的代表《纽约时报》和《时代》周刊的对华报道进行关注度、内容和倾向性分析，可揭示西方的中国国家形象变化曲线及变化原因，利于探索媒体语篇、意识形态和国家形象之间的关系

Abstract: China has been paid more and more attentions to by the Western media. Appling Fairclough’s model of CDA, this paper studies the report rating, contents, and the overall attitudes of China reports in the major Western Media in the early 21st Century with EBSCO. It examines changes of China reports in the media and analyzes the relations between language, country images and socio-cultural contexts.
