Effects of Syntactic Knowledge and Discourse Knowledge on EFL Reading Comprehension

  • 摘要: 句法知识和语篇知识是影响阅读能力发展的重要因素。本文综述与EFL学习者的句法知识、语篇知识以及其阅读理解有关的研究文献,在总结前人研究所做出的贡献并指出其局限性的基础上,提出应研究各因素之间的相关性及其对学习者阅读能力的预测作用,以期进一步揭示阅读理解的认知过程,并为阅读教学提供参考

     

    Abstract: Both syntactic knowledge and discourse knowledge affect reading comprehension. This paper reviews previous studies on syntactic knowledge, discourse knowledge and reading competence development of EFL learners. After analysing the contributions and limitations of previous research, the authors claim that it is necessary to probe the correlations among the two factors and their relative effects on EFL learners’ reading competence, so as to further explore the cognitive processes of reading comprehension and to provide references for the learning and teaching of reading
