Abstract:
Pound’s version stands out among all the English translations of Lun Yu with its unique style. He disassembles many Chinese characters to highlight the hidden images and employs brisk language to represent the laconic style of the ST and the vivid characterization of Confucius and his disciples. Although Pound’s translation is far from faithful and accurate, it undoubtedly displays his infatuation of Chinese characters and firm belief in Confucius. It is a perfect combination of translation and creation in which the translator chews and digests the SL language and ST content to enrich and empower the TL and target culture
