Abstract: The use of orchids and irises have began with The Songs of Chu, completed in Six Dynasties, and used commonly from then on. However, because those explanatory writers and readers before Song Dynasties did not know the differences between orchids and irises clearly, readers in the Song Dynasty researched the problem in their sketches continuously from generation to generation, which improved the academic standards in the Two Song Dynasties
