Abstract: Cultural stereotype is a common phenomenon which exists in every society. It is a certain thinking model from the cognitive angel. Different nations have different cultural backgrounds, which causes the existence of cultural stereotype. This paper aims to lay the foundation for our cross-cultural communication by studying Chinese and English taboos comparatively and probing into the roots of their differences.
