Abstract: Even though texts may vary a great deal from each other in terms of location and history, there may exist a certain kind of correspondence between different stories. The character of Zhuang Zi portrayed by Feng Menglong and the figure of Marquis Gualtieri depicted by Boccaccio both committed immoral conducts to test out their wives. It is found out through careful textual analysis, the oppression of women during the feudal times were reflected in these two stories.
