Comparison of Historical Consciousness between Chinese and Western Cultural Poetics

Guided by the Marxist view of history, Chinese Cultural Poetics emphasizes historical totality and progressive development; literary truth requires authors to reflect the real world and the true meaning of life and nature, to accurately grasp the logic and law of things development. Western Cultural Poetics turns from the research of historical facts and process to understanding and interpretation of history, reviewing the history according to the linguistic model and trying to weaken the objective aspects of history but stress the synchronic, intertextual and constructive aspects. The generation of truth is no longer founded by people, but in the continuous construction of it.
