Abstract
The important measure to expand the influence of the university official website is to pay attention to the application of visual effect, which is a common practice during this process. However, it is not enough to maximize the transmission potential of visual elements through the visual impact from the image itself. In the Internet age, the visual design of the website should actively adapt to network technology with the characteristics-“interconnection and interflow” and make full use of the media environment in the era of “media convergence”. With "link", "share", "search", "database" and other indexes, this paper conducts investigation and analysis on the visual function module of the official website of the national “985 project" key universities, and has summed up four stages for “985 project” university websites in the development of the visual function module design. Under the theory of "media environment", this paper analyses in-depth the four defects of the visual function module of those websites-"no link, no defects, no search share, no database". With the help of multi-level communication theory, this article concludes that those websites' visual function should head for new stage of "interconnect and interflow". This will be a new space and direction to further expand the influence of university websites after the wave of the visual application.
