Study of Cultural Leadership in the Context of Consumer Culture

  • The rise of contemporary consumer culture has changed the power relations and cultural order in the modern cultural space and become a key strength that exerts an important impact on the contemporary cultural transformation. And the contemporary consumer culture has highlighted the value of everyday life and propelled the intellectuals to be secular and weaken their political ideology. However, the consumer culture itself is a field where powers wrestle. In the context of the contemporary consumer culture, culture leadership is not stationary and it is possible for a variety of powers to manipulate it. Thus, for the modern people, it is necessary to reflect on consumer culture and focus on the continuity of history, the cultural security, the way of dialogue, the social capital investment, and the ethics support in daily life to reconstruct the origin of erecting the cultural leadership and value orientation in the perspective of consumer culture.
