Makerspaces as Innovative and Entrepreneurial Micro-Clusters: Literature Review and Research Trend

Facing with new era which is characterized by the popularity of Internet technology and development of sharing economy, makerspaces have become a new trend all over the world, especially in China, where makerspaces have been regarded as an important platform to achieve the national strategy of massive entrepreneurship and innovation. This paper first reviews all the international and domestic literature and then suggests that the marketspace is indeed an emerging innovative and entrepreneurial micro-cluster. Later the properties of makerspace are analyzed to distinguish it from the traditional industrial cluster. Finally, the future research directions are discussed at the end of this paper.
