Evolution and Innovation of Platform Governance Policy: A Comparative Study of Internet Platforms Between China and USA

Since the business model of Internet platform allows users and complementors to create and obtain value, the platform has rapidly become one of the three basic frameworks of enterprise value activities. Most of studies have shown that platform governance policies directly affect the value of creation and acquisition behavior of users and complementors, and then influence the operational performance for platform-based business ecosystem (PBES). This paper chooses six typical cases of internet platform from China and USA, including eBay and Taobao, Facebook and WeChat, Google and Baidu, and compares the formation mechanism and evolution path of platform governance policies. Furthermore, this study also analyses the governance policy innovations of Chinese platforms and their influential factors. At last, this paper provides some relevant suggestions of legal system optimization to motivate and regulate the development of platform ecosystem.
