Research on Improving the Innovation Ecosystem of New Economic Firms of Chengdu

Purpose/Signficance The new economy has become an inexhaustible driving force for economic restructuring and comprehensive strength improvement of cities and even countries. The innovation ecosystem is an important way to achieve the development of the new economy. However, the incompleteness of the elements of the innovation ecosystem will become an obstacle to the development of the new economy. Design/ Methodology Based on the innovation ecosystem theory, this paper analyzes the elements’ status quo and feasibility of the innovation ecosystem of Chengdu’s new economic firms. By comparing with the innovation ecosystem of “Silicon Valley”, this paper explores the problems in various elements of the innovation ecosystem of Chengdu’s new economic firms, and puts forward countermeasures. Findings/ Conclusions The research shows that the innovation ecosystem of Chengdu’s new economic firms is confronted with insufficient policy execution, weaker degree of high-end talent pooling, lower capital vitality and poor market-oriented ability of incubators. To solve the problems, the integration of various elements with the government as the core is necessary in the early stage; the coordination of various elements revolving around the market-oriented incubator is required in the middle-later stage.
