Computational Socioeconomics—An Emerging Interdisciplinary Discipline

Purpose/SignificanceIn the digital wave, behavioral data of human activities are increasingly collected and recorded, which creates conditions for social science researchers to obtain and analyze data. This is an emerging cross-cutting research direction: computational social economics is taking shape.

Design/MethodologyBased on the complexity of social science research objects, this paper analyzes the limitations of traditionaStarting from the complexity of social science research objects, the limitations of traditional social science research methods are analyzed, and it is pointed out that the wave of digitalization and the development of artificial intelligence technology will profoundly and comprehensively change the face of social science and lead to a birth of a new discipline called "Computational Social Economics".

Findings/ConclusionComputational social economics is based on large-scale real data and uses quantitative methods to study various phenomena in social and economic development, especially economic development issues related to social processes and social issues related to economic development. This new concept and method driven by the development of big data and artificial intelligence will become the mainstream methodology of the social sciences in the future and will profoundly change the entire social sciences.
