Purpose/Significance In order to systematically understand the overall characteristics of research on public health emergencies in China, we researched the hotspots and trends of public health emergency research in China to provide useful directional references for the follow-up scholars’ research. Design/Methodology This paper uses literature statistical methods, processes literature data by CiteSpace software, analyzes scientometric knowledge maps using data mining thinking, selects papers on public health emergencies published in the CNKI core database from 2003 to 2019 as the research object, and analyzes the trends of the number of articles published, research institutions, authors, and changes in keywords in the 17 years. Findings/Conclusions The period between 2003 to 2010 was the golden period for the development of this field, and the amount of research gradually declined after 2010; the publication centers of the papers gradually shifted from the disease prevention and control centers to universities, and the authors showed a time clustering effect; the researches mainly focused on emergency response mechanism, epidemiology, public health system and disease prevention and control, which had important theoretical reference value for the research on response and management of public health emergencies.
