Research on Coupling Coordination of Tourism Development and Ecological Environment Based on the “Pressure-State-Response” Model — Taking Yunnan Province as an ExampleTaking Yunnan Province as an Example

Purpose/Significance How to promote the coordinated development of the tourism and ecology is particularly important amid the ever-developing tourism industry and the ever-deepening ecological civilization. Design/Methodology Based on the analysis framework of the coupling coordination of tourism development and ecological environment, namely the construction of the “Pressure-State-Response” model and the panel data between 2006 and 2017, this paper adopts the coupling coordination model to make quantitative analysis of the coupling coordination degree of tourism development and ecological environment in Yunnan Province. Findings/Conclusions (1) The comprehensive evaluation index of tourism development in Yunnan Province has indicated an overall upward trend, and the comprehensive evaluation index of ecological environment has revealed an evolution law of “slowly rise——slightly drop——maintaining steady”. The coupling coordination of tourism development and ecological environment in Yunnan Province has kept rising. (2) In the early stage, Yunnan Province, harnessing its location advantages, develops tourism industry according to local conditions, and uses tourism growth to nurture the ecological environment governance. The coupling coordination degree of tourism development and ecological environment witnesses a remarkable improvement as they support each other for common development. (3) There is still room for development in the comprehensive level of the ecological environment in Yunnan Province. As a strategic development direction with a realistic basis, the level of ecological environment can be further enhanced to guide the coupling coordination degree of tourism development and ecological environment in Yunnan Province to a high-quality coordination level.
