Purpose/Significance Metaverse technology is committed to creating a virtual world that is parallel to and integrated with the real world. It is an advanced form of Internet technology development, and has broad application prospects, which will inevitably lead to significant changes in social and cultural life. Therefore, it is worth paying attention and exploring. Design/Methodology By grasping the scientific dimension of metaverse technology and describing the comprehensive and integrated innovation model of metaverse, this paper analyzes many pitfalls that metaverse technology can bring and proposes its social governance framework. Conclusions/Findings Metaverse technology will develop and integrate many high-tech achievements such as VR, AR, XR, AI, game engine, blockchain, cloud computing, etc., which will rapidly iterate and upgrade, and then give rise to and drive the rapid development of related technical science fields, and the two will interact and advance. However, the metaverse construction may also produce a large number of spillover effects and induce a series of serious social and cultural problems, which should be analyzed under the perspective of futurology and guided and resolved under the framework of comprehensive social governance.
