Innovation and Practice of Ideological and Political Education for “Materials and Energy—from Fundamentals to Application”

  • Purpose/Significance “Materials and Energy—from Fundamentals to Application” aims at the moral education and cultivating people. The course puts forward the innovation strategies of ideological and political education by keeping innovative and pursuing the truth, highlighting the main theme, empathizing with students, forming resonance with sincere emotion, telling Chinese scientists patriotic stories, and interaction, practice, rationality and consciousness, cultivating scientific spirit and Chinese national cohesion. Design/Methodology By condensing ideological and political elements in professional knowledge lecturing, 45 ideological and political elements are integrated into the course in 21 teaching sections, and the ideological and political teaching system is constructed. Focusing on three main lines, stories of Chinese scientists in different historical periods who cherished the motherland, saved the nation from extinction and made great contribution for the rejuvenation of China are highlighted and shared. Conclusions/Findings Through the coalition of professional knowledge and ideological and political elements, in interaction teaching, discussion and challenging tasks, the approach of extension, expansion, sharing and empathy is adopted to explore the curriculum ideological and political practice education. The teaching philosophy and approach achieved satisfactory teaching effects, providing a beneficial and enlightening attempt and perspective for the ideological and political construction of science and engineering courses.
