Abstract
Purpose/Significance This research aims at the two major practical misunderstandings of the common “ideological and political elements” in the ideological and political construction of science and engineering courses in colleges and universities and the lack of teaching evaluation of the effectiveness of education. It puts forward the correct method of ideological and political construction of science and engineering courses in colleges and universities, and uses educational experiments to test it. Design/Methodology Taking the ideological and political practice of the specialized course “Seismic Design of Building Structures” in the autumn semester of 2021 academic year for 2019 undergraduate students of the School of Civil Engineering of Chongqing University as an example, after correctly refining the “ideological and political elements” of the course, the research team use the “pre–experiment” design of “static group comparison” to test a theoretical hypothesis. That is, if teachers implant “ideological and political elements” that can enhance the “four self-confidence” of college students in the teaching of Seismic Design of Building Structures, then the measure of organically integrating the education of political values into professional education will have a positive impact on college students studying this course, help them to be firm in politics and professional in major and make them more motivated to learn professional courses. Conclusions/Findings The teaching goal of this course is highly achieved, and the hypothesis of educational experiment is established. The experimental conclusion is helpful for college science and engineering teachers to scientifically promote the ideological and political construction of the course.
