Abstract
This article takes five research institutions, including Harvard University, University College London, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Federal College of Technology in Lausanne, as the subjects. Relevant papers in the field of neurosciences from these institutions are obtained from the WoS database. A detailed analysis is conducted on the research objectives, disciplinary layout, development trends, and talent cultivation of key research units, and the trends in publication volume, research influence, research topics. A comparative analysis is conducted on the competitiveness of research institutions from four perspectives of financial support. From the analysis of important international neurosciences research institutions, important implications are obtained: China's neurosciences research institutions should establish strategic direction based on their own advantages, promote interdisciplinary integration, gather high-end talents and train future talents, and create an active innovation community with innovation management methods, so as to promote high-quality development in the field of neurosciences in China.
