Abstract
Based on the essentials of Chinese poetry, British sinologist Cranmer-Byng set out to reconstruct Tang Poetry in the English metrical form. Despite cultural misunderstandings and mistakes in his renderings, he translated Tang Poetry in the most elegant way, and contributed to the circulation of Tang Poetry beyond the academic circle.
