Research on the Classic Cases of Public Broadcasting at Home and Abroad ——Referential Significance to the Development of the Public Broadcasting Network in Chengdu

MaiChesnee defined the public service radio and television as “It is the broadcasting service institutions which provide a full range of educational, entertainment and public affairs for the people of the country. Its nature is non-profit and non-commercial .Its programs are directly related to public demand rather than the ratings. Established earlier in Chengdu, the public broadcasting network occupied an important position in the media system. It is important for the public broadcasting network to choose the development mode in the future, especially in the context that the social situations shift, and new media technologies develop in high speed. This article selects two representative public radio media—the British public broadcasting and public radio stations in Hong Kong, and analyzes the changes of them in the new environment by combining the useful experience and the specific reality of Chengdu and proposes some appropriate measures.
