Abstract
Danish writer Isak Dinesen is considered as the modern-day Scheherazade of Arabian Nights, whose work is the best example of narrative therapy. The theme of trauma runs through Dinesen’s work. With her actual trauma as the prototype, she describes many victims of trauma including Jens, Pellegrina and the like, writing individual’s dissociative experience. Meanwhile, her work highlights the function of narrative in healing psychological trauma. Through restorying life-story, Dinesen and her characters reshape the traumatic memories into a new and satisfactory story. Thereby they reconstruct selves and cured their psychological trauma. This paper studies traumatic experience and narrative therapy in her works which has great significance on studying Dinesen and her works in depth
