Abstract:
Since 1999, China has become an aging society. Along with the continued growth of the aging population, the uneven provision of services for the elderly has become an increasingly prominent social issue. Through an analysis of Wuhou District’s services for the elderly, we can see that the elderly care system has issues with the institutional elderly care system as well as the residential elderly care system. A further exploration of elderly services reveals that through the creation of a new system of community-based elderly care services, improvements can be found in several areas: the training of elderly care nurses, the integration of hospital and elderly home resources, and the streamlining of the citizen information network. These can integrate governmental resources and improve financial subsidies. This is a useful exploration of China’s new community-based system of elderly social services.
