Abstract: The media's “cultural genes” is the original spirit for the new media design, and the basic elements for its existence and development, which are characterized by equality, interaction, individualism, humanism, and the man-machine combination orientation, etc. The ideological and political education in colleges and universities should inspect, understand, and use it well through the sequence of the new media's “cultural genes”, and use the cultural characteristics, productions, and expressing ways of it to develop the new media's cultural values in maximum, thus truly making the new media play an important role in the ideological and political education.
