Abstract: Ba Jin’s “Sui Xiang Lu” is a precursor of the new era’s essays. His works are marked by the courage to face the reality and the respect for the history. His criticism of the feudal land system and self-thinking represent the life choice of the writers after Lu Xun. It also shows the birth, growth, and prosperity of the new values characterized by “Wu Si”
