Abstract:
Building on traditional logic, the time-domination mechanism of digital capitalism has undergone digital upgrading, realizing the universalization of capital’s time appropriation, the refinement of time organization, and the concealment of time discipline. This gives rise to distinctive time-related contradictions in the digital-intelligent era. Interwoven contradictions include the structural contradiction of overlapping free time and labor time, the rhythm contradiction of co-existing absolute acceleration and relative stagnation, the value contradiction of intertwined physical busyness and existential meaninglessness, and the power contradiction coupling ostensible autonomy with hidden enslavement. These constitute concrete manifestations of the fundamental contradiction of capitalism in the temporal dimension of the digital-intelligent age, reflecting the inherent conflict between the human-oriented nature of time and capital-driven monopoly. To resolve time contradictions in the digital-intelligent era and achieve human temporal emancipation, it is necessary to restrain capital’s temporal power through the socialist system, unlock the emancipatory potential of digital technologies to consolidate material foundations, and reshape human temporal cognition and practices to establish human subjectivity. In this way, time can be restored from a tool for capital valorization to an active mode of human existence.
