Abstract:
Under the theory of hermeneutic fusion of horizon, this paper does an analysis and comparison among multiple English translation versions of Li Sao, which is the representative poem of Chinese classic anthology —— Chu Ci. From effective history perspective, this paper explores the validity of hermeneutic diversity in different translation versions and the significance of retranslation. By emphasizing on translator’s “prejudice” and creativity, this paper does not limit its discussion of “fusion of horizon” in the range of understanding and comprehension, but extends further into a new dimension —— the target language output process.
