Aspiration and Desperation —— Interpretation of the Sense of Faulkner’s A Rose for Emily

Abstract: As a representative work of Faulkner’s, A Rose for Emily is also set on the Southern environment and is constructed oddly, which greatly supports the multiplicity and complicity of the sense of this short story. Through the analyses of Emily’s multi-identity and the rose’s indefinite meaning and the interrelationship between them, this paper discovers Faulkner’s high attention on humanity in his writing thoughts.
