Abstract: As the main force of netizen, college students are quite active and noticeable. Their network language and behaviors are displayed in their individual features and online image by being enthusiastic and sincere, free and unabashed, open and inclusive, which are consistent to the characteristics of the Internet. However, college students also show some problems worth noting, such as redundant sensibility without enough rationality, redundant innovation without serious seeking of truth, and redundant flaunt without necessary self-discipline. In order to promote the healthy and rational development of the online image of college students, on account of its present situation and developing trend, this paper considers that the cognition of the online image lies in the harmony between self-cognition and social cognition, and in organic unity of perceptual cognition and rational cognition as well. The orientation and shaping of the online image of college students should be conducted in the following four aspects: distinct individual characteristics, complicated system structure, rigorous operation mechanism and diversified practical form.
