Abstract: The family is the cell of society and the marriage is the base of family. Thus, the adjustment of the marital relations is an important manifestation of social changes. The society as well as marriages was heavily influence by the economic crisis. In the 30’s of the last century, marriages changes showed different trends in different countries. However, the general trend of marriages changes is that both marriage rate and divorce rate decreased, which was obviously embodied in Shanghai in the economic crisis happened in the 30’s of the 20 century.
