Abstract: Since the new period, cultural conservatism begins to rise again, and the “cultural conservatism” writing has become more common in the novel field. To sum up, the themes of these novels mainly include following respects: upholding the local civilization and traditional culture; criticizing on urban civilization and instrumental rationality; rethinking and probing the relationship between man and nature; etc. These novels reflect the writers’ concern on China’s process of modernization, hoping to provide references to the healthy and harmonious development of China
