Abstract:
Adjusting current retirement age is on the agenda with aging of the population and longer life expectancy. This paper makes a brief review of scholars’ standpoints from the aspects of age structure, life expectancy, pressure on pension payments, employment and labor market, competitiveness of enterprises, start of working age and human capital, and other related theories. Besides, it involves the viewpoints that we should postpone present retirement age prudently. The facts that the reform of retirement age needs to be implemented in the right time step by step, and that flexible retirement options could be regarded as means of transition are pointed out in the end.
