Abstract: Stephen uses the method of literal translation in Owen Readings in Chinese Literary Thought , which generates a more objective representation of the original style, makes up the accuracy and profundity of the missing translation of the text supplemented by explanations and notes, and lastly quotes, proves and compares one another among the text, the history of the forming of the text and the history of the text interpretation in order to interpret the text with a reasonable imagination of history and comb and discuss the historical changes of traditional Chinese literary theory and literary criticism in the broad context of cultural history.
